In the arms of angels, Wannette "Bo" Gafford entered the gates of heaven to be reunited with her husband, John H. Gafford, Jr. (Buddy) and her son, Dan Gafford, sister, Merl Shivers and brother, Dillard Marsh. Surviving Mrs. Gafford are her daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Mike Cooke of Bryan; grandson, Patrick Cooke of Austin; her great-grandchildren, Parker and Reagan Cooke; and daughter-in-law, Debi Kirk Gafford of Austin. Mexia relatives include James Shivers, T.D. and Janise Shivers, Christopher Shivers, Bettye Gafford Thetford and Cathy Beard Taylor. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends around the Lone Star State. Blessings abound for the care provided by Hospice of Brazos Valley (Janice, Emily, Penny, Sam and Lillie), Grace Place residence of Bryan (Tommie Sue, Joe and Dailey), Rose Home caregiver, Claudia and personal caregiver and friend Polly Fields. Wannette had a long career with the Mexia and Denton State Schools and the Paul Voertman Bookstore of Denton, retiring with her husband to return to Mexia in 1986. After his death, she moved to Bryan to be near her daughter. She is best remembered as a person generous with her time, laughter and exuberant and sassy attitude. Our hearts forever smile as we remember. A private burial will occur with a celebration of life planned later in the fall. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Brazos Valley or a Hospice of your choice. Burial will be in the Mexia Cemetery with arrangements being provided by Blair-Stubbs, Inc. of Mexia, Texas.
