William Colson, Jr.

William Henry Colson, Jr., 70, of Teague passed away November 8, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be 10AM, Friday, November 11, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will be in the Dew Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Henry was born October 11, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas to William Henry and Amsie White Colson, Sr. He married Sharon Lee Sanders on November 23, 1961. He was a minister and worked as a Chaplin for eight years at the Mexia State School. He was also a longtime businessman, owner and operator of Colson's Music store. Henry was a very active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member and cook for the Baptist Men's Group. He was also a member of the Piano Technician Guild. He loved spending time with his family, church family, music and always willing to give his all in anything in which he was involved. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, William Henry Colson, III. Henry is survived by his wife of almost 50 yrs., Sharon; daughter, Michele Lee LeMay and husband, Larry of China Spring; grandchildren, Timothy William Long of Teague, Alicia Danielle Long of West and William Joseph "Billy" LeMay of China Spring; and sister, Mary E. Crisp of Corpus Christi. Pallbearers will be Walt Van DeWeghe, Troy Miller, Ray Jones, David Allen, Asa Burgess and Bill Matthews. The Baptist Men's Group and First Baptist Church Deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church music program, 500 E. Carthage, Mexia, Tx. 76667.
