William Robert Kerzee, of Mexia, died on August 15, 2016 in Waco, Texas at the age of 83. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Michael Kerzee officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Nolan Schaffer, Kevin Schaffer, David Kerzee, Cody Burns, Vince Keys and Mickey Van Winkle will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. William was born in Point Enterprise, Texas on September 26, 1932 to James Lloyd and Madeline Bozeman Kerzee. After completing high school, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. William retired from Mexia ISD after 28 years of teaching Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics and Biology; a profession he dearly loved. William was a big supporter of Texas A&M, regardless of the sport, if the Aggies were playing, he was watching them. He was also a Nascar enthusiasts, enjoyed fishing and target shooting. He owned and operated an outboard motors service, for many years, another of his pleasurable past times. William enjoyed many things in life, but nothing could compare to the time he shared with his son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were his inspirations and his world. Reading and learning was of the most utmost importance to him. He made sure all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren had subscriptions to a magazine, his way of encouraging them to read. William's favorite and most remembered saying was "Never Stop Learning". He was also affectionately known to many as "Uncle Red". He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Douglas Kerzee; and brother, James Noel Kerzee. William is survived by his son, Robert Noel Kerzee and wife, Tracy of Taylor; grandchildren, Brandi Ellis of Palmer, TX and Casey Ebbett and husband, John of Mexia and also, acquired grandchildren, Kevin Schaffer, Nolan Schaffer, Courtney Gates, Kymberly O'Neal, Kayleigh Wheeler, Emma Wheeler, Marcy Everett, Eric Nichols, Brian Nichols, Cody Burns and wife, Amy, Kalli Sansom, Courtney Reyes and husband,Vick and Heath Sansom and wife, Angela; great-grandchildren, Harley, Catherine and Wyatt; multiple aunts; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
