Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Fay Rushing, 86, of Mexia will be 2 pm Monday, November 19, 2007 at the Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton with the Rev. Billy Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornton cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton. Mrs. Rushing was born Sept. 20, 1921 in Bremond to George Newton and Ellie Bradshaw Carroll. For a number of years she worked at the Mexia State School as a foster grandparent. Mrs. Rushing was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Mary Fay Miles, Son, Marshall Edward Rushing, Sisters, Dorothy West Wimberly, Flossie Mae Barfield and Mary Lewis, her brother, Carl Junior Carroll. Mrs. Rushing is survived by her son, Glen Dale Rushing of Richland Chambers Lake, her daughter, Rita Kay Drennan of Groesbeck, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters, Sydonia Willard of Groesbeck and Rose Ellen Carroll of Garland. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Those serving as pallbearers will be Vernon Miles, Kenneth Ellis, Thomas Suarez, Sean Clifton, Boots Carroll, John Pat Murphy and Lee Drennan.
