Willis Woodrow Wilson, Sr., 92, of Mexia passed away October 1, 2012 in Mexia, Texas. Funeral services will be 2PM, Thursday, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Mexia with Dr. Shelton Young officiating. Graveside services will be 2PM, Friday, at Gray Cemetery in Marion County, Texas. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Willis was born October 29, 1919 in Powderly, Texas to Josiah L. Wilson, Sr. and Minnie Ethyl Smyers Wilson. He married Fannie Lelia Davis on June 8, 1940 in Jefferson, Texas. He retired from Gulf Oil Corporation after working over 41 years as a Pipeline Supervisor. Willis served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. His love and devotion for God, his family and others was exemplified in the way he lived his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 66 years, Fannie Lelia; son, Willis W. Wilson, Jr.; and six siblings. Willis is survived by two daughters, Sharlett Van Winkle and husband, Jimmy of Mexia and Glenda Modisette and husband, Jack of Lufkin; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William G. Wilson of Shreveport, LA. Pallbearers will be Randy Van Winkle, Laramie Willis, Blake Loggins, Brent Loggins, Brian Loggins, Griffin Salas and Zack Van Winkle.
