Winnie Tucker

Winnie Mae Tucker passed away peacefully Sunday, December 4, 2011 in her room at the Manor Nursing Home in Mexia, Texas at the age of 89. Winnie Mae was born May 20, 1922 to David Albert and Henrietta Mays, Sr. in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was a children's Sunday School teacher for fifty years and an active member of Beach Street First Baptist Church of Texarkana. Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Derwood C. Tucker; and daughter, Dr. Janice Tucker Grisham. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harrell and Eddie Mays of Friona, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Debra Tucker of Mexia; son-in-law, Dr. Michael P. Grisham of Houma, Louisiana; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Interment will be at the Throckmorton Cemetery, Thursday morning, December 8, 2011. Memorials may be made to the American cancer society.
